Bambini Wine Bar

Introducing the Cozy Nordic Eco Retreat in Trentham: A Sustainable Haven. This home incorporates the clients desired design features while prioritising solar passive design and sustainable construction.

Description

Once a hairdresser salon, this charming wine bar has become an iconic gathering spot for exquisite meals and fine wines. Situated on Elisabeth Street within the historic St. James building, the challenge was to create an atmosphere that harmonized with the adjacent Bambini restaurant while transporting guests to a different realm reminiscent of old Europe, infused with a touch of irony. The vision was a sophisticated, elegant, and timeless Venetian-Parisian aesthetic appealing to both established patrons and newcomers who appreciate historical architecture.

The space, a blank canvas with soaring ceilings, required careful consideration due to its heritage status, necessitating minimal alterations to walls and floors. To discreetly conceal existing services, such as sprinklers and conduits, the ceilings were painted dark and adorned with ornate frames that evoke intimacy and beauty. Intricate plaster details and distressed mirrors on the walls enhance the sense of space while providing a backdrop for the evening menu blackboard.

Custom-designed furniture and finishes complete the ambiance, with lighting, wallpaper, and grey travertine marble sourced from abroad. The result is a richly appointed space that exudes warmth and invitation.
